An Ingersoll man is throwing his hat into the ring, the Liberal candidate for Oxford in the provincial election.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Liberal's candidate for the provincial election in Oxford is a born and raised Ingersoll man with an Honour BA in political science.
James Howard also has a Master's of Applied Politics from Wilfred Laurier University. He's hoping to address local issues as a possible Liberal MPP for Oxford.
"What I bring to Oxford is a toolset that is specifically designed to from a grassroots level, push public policy issues."
Howard would like to look at alternatives to the landfill. As an MPP he would also engage with the environmental assessment for the high speed rail, but would want to exhaust all other alternatives.
As a Liberal MPP, Howard feels he can bring something new to the table.
"I think I can offer something new and that's specific expertise in understanding local issues and how to succeed in pushing public policy that the public wants from a grassroots level."
Howard has been volunteering his entire life; helping out with Big Brothers Big Sisters, the MS Walk and the Stitch Supper Club. He is also a Director with the OPAL Alliance.
He became interested in politics as a child in the early 2000's, watching the news and federal debates. He said says Paul Martin and the Liberals legalization of marriage equality really struck a nerve with him, and the rest is history.
