Zabian's Men's Wear Store is hoping to find a new home in Downtown Woodstock and that could be at the former Dairy Capital Cheese Shop.
WOODSTOCK - Zabian's Men's Wear Store is hoping to find a new home in Downtown Woodstock.
The retail store was destroyed by a massive fire in Downtown Woodstock on March 18th. They are hoping to find a new home at the former Dairy Capital Cheese Shop. The City of Woodstock currently owns the former cheese shop building, that closed earlier this year. Mayor Trevor Birtch says they want to keep Zabians in Downtown Woodstock.
"Zabian's is a long term business here in the community and we are encouraging them to find a new location or rebuild because we want them to continue to serve our community in the downtown. In the meantime they have all kinds of clothing options on the way, so they need to get operational right away to maintain their presence here in the community.
Birtch says council is being asked to lease the former Dairy Capital space to Zabian's on Thursday night.
The City has acquired the Dairy Capital and we will have a council decision on leasing that out to Zabians this Thursday and that would be a one year lease and allow them to get operation right away and have a place to get that clothing delivered and fitted and give them time to continue to make sure they stay in our downtown and if it takes longer than a year, I'm sure council would be happy to renew that lease."
