A Zorra Township native, born and raised, has decided to try her hand at municipal politics.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Ward 4 in Zorra Township has a candidate on the ballot.
Nicole Barnett has put her name forward as she has been a resident of Zorra her entire life. Barnett talks about why she wants to run for municipal council.
"And that's why I'm really running, because I just care so much about the people here and where we live and the future we're building all together. And the generations before us have really done a lot of work building Zorra into what it is. And I really just want to keep that growing in a positive direction."
Barnett says she is looking forward to the challenge if elected to Council, and is not one to sit back and wait for someone else to address issues. She adds that if elected, she wants to make sure people are getting what they want, but also that it is at the right price.
"Finding the right balance is probably going to be one of the council's most important responsibilities and probably one of the most challenging as well."
Barnett was born and raised in Zorra Township on her parents' farm, and now raises her family in the Township. Residents will head to the polls on Monday, October 26, 2026, to cast their ballots.
