Tory Leader Tim Hudak says the province should "seize the wheel'' when it comes to transit expansion in the greater Toronto region. He's not happy with the shortlist of 11 possible funding options provincial agency Metrolinx has come up with. The list includes a payroll tax, a hike in property taxes, a half-cent-a-litre tax on gasoline and tolls on the province's 400-series highways. The Liberal government hasn't said if it will implement any of the Metrolinx suggestions Metrolinx will make its final recommendations to the Ontario government by June. Here are the suggestions for possible revenue streams made by Metrolinx: -Development Charges -Employer Payroll Tax -Fuel Tax -High Occupancy Tolls -Highway Tolls -Land Value Capture -Parking Space Levy, including pay-for-parking at transit stations -Property Tax -Sales Tax -Transit Fare Increase -Vehicle Kilometres Travelled Fee
