18-Year-Old Makes Canadian Lottery History with $48 Million Jackpot

TORONTO - An 18-year-old women from Sault Ste Marie has made Canadian lottery history after winning the $48 Million Jackpot.

Juliette Lamour is the youngest person in Canada to win a jackpot of this size. On top of her luck, the birthday purchase was the first lottery ticket she ever bought.

“My grandfather suggested I buy a lottery ticket for fun. When I went to the store, I wasn’t sure what to ask for because I had never bought a ticket before, so I called my dad who told me to buy a LOTTO 6/49 Quick Pick. I still can’t believe I hit the GOLD BALL jackpot on my very first lottery ticket!”

Juliette had forgotten about the ticket until news started to spread that the winning ticket was purchased in her town. She asked a co-worker to scan her ticket while she was at work, and her co-worker fell to his knees. The entire staff, and the shoppers at the store, cheered for her win.

When asked what she wants to do with her winnings, Juliette said she plans on using her winnings to attend medical school, a dream she's wanted to pursue for a while, but wasn't feasible for her family. She added that her and her family are also planning to explore an ENTIRE continent this summer.
