Anthony Scalisi is looking to become the next Mayor of Woodstock.

WOODSTOCK - A well known business owner has launched another bid to become the next Mayor of Woodstock.

Anthony Scalisi has deep roots in the Friendly City. His family moved here from Italy in the early 1900s, and even owned a few stores on Dundas Street for a period of time. Scalisi has been the proud owner of Woodstock's Water Shop on Springbank Ave for eight years.

Scalisi ran for mayor back in 2022 and finished in third place. He says Woodstonians were looking for change, and now they're looking for more, so his campaign has a "back to basics" approach.

"I'm focusing on priorities that matter for the majority of Woodstock residents. This includes the tax burden and spending tax payers money more wisely and hopefully investing in projects that provide the most value for our community."

He adds this includes Sunday bus service, and the addition of a new pool and rec centre.

"Having one pool for nearly 50,000 people just does it cut it anymore. So I think we need to focus on the rec centre, put it at least in planning, and plan forward for that."

Scalisi says he cares deeply about his hometown community and he thinks we can do better.

The municipal election is scheduled for October 26th.
