Oxford County council will give a final reading of the 2019 draft budget in the New Year.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County council will take one more look at their draft budget before giving it a final vote.
Warden Larry Martin says they spent Monday going over the numbers and no major additions or deletions were announced.
"There was no discussion and no changes, I believe there was one special notice that did come forward and that was for a special levy, but as far as changes to the actual levy, no, there was none made."
Martin says the numbers did not change after Monday's meeting.
"The numbers we put out at the very beginning are still in tact, nothing has changed from then and unless something does change, they will stay like that."
The 2019 Business Plan and Budget Draft proposes a general levy of 59.4 million dollars, which would mean an increase of 5.8% over 2018.
With the County’s property tax assessment base growing by $30 million to an estimated $308.8 million, the average single family detached residential property valued at $263,813 would see municipal taxes increase by $20 for the year if the budget is approved.
The overall draft budget is currently set at $214.5 million dollar overall budget. $52.4 million would be invested in capital projects. Crockett says staff have looked at a lot of factors to create this draft budget.
The budget process will have a final reading in the New Year on January 9th. You can read more about the budget online here.
