WOODSTOCK - The 2020 Pumpkin Drive is coming up this Sunday in support of the Woodstock Salvation Army.
The event is happening at Century 21 Heritage House in Woodstock and it is hosted by Bonnita Vanderklooser and Michelle Kirwin. Families are encouraged to stop by and they will have a number of COVID-19 protocols will be in place.
Co-host of the event Michelle Kirwin says they will have a lot of fun things for the kids to do.
"You can carve a pumpkin whether we get to go trick or treating or not this year. Everyone can be at home, safe, carving pumpkins, having fun and have that quality time with their family. Giving a little bit of treats is always fun but we do encourage the kids to come dressed up. There's prizes for costumes, we've got donations for prizes, we have colouring contests. So we have literally something for all ages so that it becomes a fun day event and hopefully it will be."
Kirwin says among the COVID-19 protocols will include a hand sanitizer station.
"So we're going to have it setup where there's going to be a six foot separation between people as they're coming to line up for the pumpkins, we're going to have it marked off with hay bales to keep the flow of traffic of people coming through. We're going to have a hand sanitizer station when you're coming to start the line up basically. We are asking everyone to please wear masks."
Kirwin adds everything will be pre-packaged.
She says the loot bags will be given out and colouring contests will be available to take home. Hashtags will be on the back of them so you can post them on the event's Facebook page, where winners will be drawn from.
Families are invited to swing by and pick up a free pumpkin with donations going to the Salvation Army. She adds when you are selecting a pumpkin, the one you touch is the one you take.
It is optional to donate non-perishable food items or money.
The event is free to attend and it goes from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.
