34 people were charged during the Oxford OPP Stop and Look Campaign
34 people were charged during the Oxford OPP Stop and Look Campaign. OPP constable Stacey Culbert tells Heart FM they had officers stationed at local intersections last week during the blitz and most of the charges happened at local stop signs where people either didn't come to a complete stop or simply just ran through it. She adds the officers were patrolling areas that have had a high number of collisions in the past. Over the past three years Oxford OPP have investigated 123 motor vehicle collisions where the primary cause of the collisions was vehicles failing to obey traffic controls including stop signs. Culbert says they ran the blitz to send a message and to hopefully get the message out to drivers the importance of coming to a complete stop.
Most of the charges from this campaign included:
Disobey Stop Sign, Fail to Stop - Highway Traffic Act, $110 fine and three demerit points.
Amber Light, Fail to Stop - Highway Traffic Act, $180 fine and three demerit points.
Red Light, Fail to Stop - Highway Traffic Act, $325 fine and three demerit points.
