The earthquake originated near Grand Rapids, Michigan and could be felt across Ontario from Owen Sound to Toronto.

OXFORD COUNTY - A 4.2 magnitude earthquake hit Michigan yesterday at 12:23 p.m. The earthquake reportedly could be felt across southern Ontario cites including Owen Sound, London and Toronto. According to Natural Resources Canada there were no reports of damage.

Earthquake Seismologist with Natural Resources Canada Taimi Mulder said earthquakes of this magnitude are relatively uncommon, occurring every 10 to 12 years in this area.

A former resident of Ingersoll - Jamie Bray felt the earthquake at his residence in Battle Creek, Michigan.

"Around 12:22 p.m. or so, I heard and felt this reverberating rumbling. My first thought was that a large, heavy truck had pulled in front of the house. But, then the whole house started to shake and I could hear things creak from the shaking."
