"I got great enjoyment from seeing happy faces," said Lu Topham when asked by Heart FM why she volunteers with seniors. Lu has been with the Auxiliary ladies service group at Woodingford Lodge. On Monday the group celebrated 45-years of service. Everyday the ladies serve drinks and snacks to the the residents of Woodingford. The Auxiliary also assists with events including birthday parties and dances. Auxiliary President June Masters told Heart FM "It feels good to help the seniors. We enjoy seeing the joy and excitement on the residents faces, when we give them their tea or coffee or have a birthday party." There are 40 members total that volunteer at Woodingford Lodge. "The Auxiliary is successful because they really have a heart and care about our elderly population," said Corrie Fransen the Manager of Operations of the Woodingford Lodge.
