6 New Members Sworn in as Auxiliary Officers in Woodstock

The auxiliary program grows to 16 members following a special ceremony that welcomed six new officers to the Woodstock Police Service

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service has grown to welcome the addition of 6 new auxiliary members.  Assisting with anything from parade control to community events the Auxiliary team is comprised of a group of volunteers that nearly logged 4000hrs for the police service in 2014.  Newly appointed Auxiliary Officer, Bob Bezzo, couldn't contain his excitement following the ceremony  "It feels really good!  I am excited to start getting on the road helping out with festivals and things like that, just getting out in the community and helping out as much as I can."  Another new auxiliary member,  Zolton Czegledi, explains how he will treat this new role.  "Definitely being involved with the community I think is the most important aspect of policing in any police service is the community involvement building and strengthening the relationships.  I am looking forward to engaging members of the community and being at all the events and just giving back."

The Auxiliary program at the Woodstock Police Service has now reached 16 after a ceremony that saw 6 new officers sworn in.  Newly appointed Auxiliary Member, Dillon Newton, knows that Woodstock is the perfect place for him to be.  "It is a huge step in the right direction for myself wanting to become a full time constable in the City of Woodstock.  I am looking forward to it, I know Woodstock has a great police service and couldn't be surrounded by better people."  One of the other latest additions, Joel Harrington, cannot wait to work alongside other Officers of the Woodstock Police Service.  "It is a great honour to be part of the Woodstock Police service as a volunteer.  They're a great support for the community and the Auxiliaries support the Woodstock Police service as a compliment towards their normal uniform patrol it will be a great adventure."

Auxiliary member Jesse Raymond knows his hard work is finally paying off.  "It is a great accomplishment, it's what I have gone to school for 6 years for.  I am at the point where I am trying to get into different departments, and this is a great stepping stone and I am ready to learn a lot."  Community minded is what led Auxiliary Member Gregory Holt to join the force.  "Just my work ethic and wanting to learn and help out people, and to just be apart of the community in a different way.  I went to school for 2 years for it, that's what I would like to get into and to be a constable one day."  With numerous community events on tap Police Chief, Bill Renton, is looking forward to the extra help throughout the summer months.
