Michael Stoop will be remembered at a memorial concert at the Jones Family Farm on July 28th; which would have been his 30th birthday.
INGERSOLL - A local family will be holding a memorial concert for their son who died 11 years ago.
Michael Stoop passed away while celebrating his 19th birthday weekend with a group of friends. They went out to the quarry in Ingersoll, where Michael fell after climbing on rocks.
His mother, Suzanne Stoop says the concert will be held on July 28th, which would have been his 30th birthday.
"Music was very important to Michael. He played a variety of instruments; piano and bass guitar. He loved all kinds of music so it just seemed like a great way to remember him."
Suzanne adds Michael was good friends with Aaron Allen; the lead singer of Aaron Allen and the Small City Saints.
"Michael and Aaron Allen had a neat connection. They worked together at the time of his death in Ingersoll. Michael was really impressed with Aaron as a musician; he put out a CD and I know Michael was keen for me to hear it."
Allen's song the Good Ones was inspired by Michael. The music video for his song Rambin' Man was also filmed at the Jones Family Farm; which also happens to be where the concert will take place.
Donations will be collected for the Michael Stoop Memorial Fund, which was established by Ingamo Homes shortly after his death. It helps Oxford kids attend the recreation programs they desire; whether it be music lessons or a sports team. The fund has supported eleven family outings through Ingamo Homes as well; including trips to Canada's Wonderland, Ripley's Aqaurium and African Lion Safari.
