Southwestern Public Health has teamed up with many other partners to bring a global initiative to Oxford County.
OXFORD COUNTY - A new coalition is in Oxford County.
Southwestern Public Health has teamed with local school boards, elected officials, and community agencies to create Planet Youth, which is used to help youth. Chair of Planet Youth Elgin-St. Thomas Jessica Austin explains.
"The initiative really supports, you know, communities coming together, listening to our youth, using data to then develop those initiatives to build that overall healthy environment for them."
Austin speaks to how Oxford County will benefit from the coalition.
"What will make a difference for them is that they are able to build the resources and supports and activities and environments that they want in Oxford County specifically."
Austin says that the coalition is pretty new and will be at many different community events, trying to educate the residents about the goals they have. She mentions the Oxford County group will be at the Woodstock Navy Vets game tomorrow, and anyone interested can stop by the table they have set up.
