Renovations are finally wrapping up at the new Royal Canadian Legion Branch 55 location on Dundas Street.
WOODSTOCK - Royal Canadian Legion Branch 55 is open for business at 642 Dundas Street.
They made the decision to move away from their old Brant Street location two years ago, after they found it was becoming too expensive to upkeep with only about 330 memberships. It also had a lot of stairs and was not very accessible.
They bought their new home two years ago and First Vice Rob Gable says they have accomplished a lot since then.
"There's been a multitude of things changed since we have bought our building. We've added a kitchen, complete new men's and ladies washrooms, taken out some walls, moved walls and added new LED lighting throughout the building."
The building includes a small board room for meetings and a members canteen complete with a shuffleboard and a large television. They also have a stage in the main hall for events including their monthly Fish Frys and Roast Beef Dinners.
Gable says they're just adding the finishing touches now.
"Hopefully end of this week or early next week the exterior will be done and then the signs and logos can go up on the building so people can find us a little be easier."
An opening ceremony was held on Saturday June 16th. It included an official building dedication and the piping of the colours.
