A New Home for the Woodstock Kitten Nursery & Rescue

The Woodstock Kitten Nursery and Rescue will move to a rural location close to Woodstock on April 27th.

WOODSTOCK - Some exciting news for the Woodstock Kitten Nursery and Rescue.

Foster Coordinator Tonya Haevens says they are getting ready to move to a new home.

"As of April 27th, we are moving from our current location in Oxford Centre. We are moving to a rural area, still close to Woodstock."

Haevens says the rescue cares for pregnant cats and kittens.

"When they do end up coming into our care, immediately they are triaged and isolated from the other cats that might be in our care at that time. They are attended to by our local veterinarian who we rely on heavily and they are very good to us. We want to make sure that the mommas are given the best care that they can be given so the kittens are born healthy as well as the kittens are being treated the way they need to be."

Founder Cathy Black started the nursery out of her basement in Woodstock, but moved to a new property on Oxford Centre last year in order to build a new nursery. She presented a delegation to Norwich Township Council in order to request the proper zoning for the nursery afterward, but that request was denied.

Haevens did not disclose the address for their new location because the rescue is not ready for people to stop by and drop off animals. If you come across a pregnant cat or a litter of kittens in need of help, you can call the nursery at 226-232-6758 or send an e-mail to woodstockkittennursery@gmail.com.

The Woodstock Kitten Nursery and Rescue is in need of donations in order to run its programming and build its new nursery. You can find more information and donate to the cause online here.

Tonya Haevens stopped by the Heart FM studio with Nursery Manager Kara Turnbull on Wednesday April 19th to chat with Dan and Marcie. You can listen to the full interview below.
