A New Look for Museum Square

Woodstock City Council heard a proposed concept for a Museum Square revitalization at their meeting last night.

WOODSTOCK - Museum Square might be getting a makeover, for the first time in about a 100 years.

Woodstock City Council heard a delegation from Jon Meyer, a Landscape Architect with Hortikopia Incorporated last night.

"What I'm proposing is just to update and modernize the square so it's comprehensible and useable for the public."

He presented a concept for a complete revitalization that would include more open space for public activities. It would also bring in a performance stage, splash pad and life size chess board.

Director of Parks and Rec Brian Connors says they will be posting a public feedback survey on the city's website.

"It would be really good if people took at look at what's being proposed and why and see if folks agree with it. This is their time to get their input in, Museum Square hasn't been changed in over 100 years as far as the design and this is a fresh new look at basically the part that is the downtown."

The survey should be up and running in about a week or two. You can find more information about the concept plan in last night's council agenda.
