The spray pad and skate park are to inspire youth to get outdoors and be involved in the community.
THAMESFORD - The new additions to the community are thanks to the $150,000 GTF grant given to the Township of Zorra this year.
The grand opening of the skate park and spray pad was this past Saturday, with MPP Ernie Hardeman, Ontario Trillium Foundation volunteer Peter Flemming and Zorra Mayor Margaret Lupton in attendance. All three were very impressed with the improvements made in the Zorra Township's Recreational sector.
Hardeman is pleased with the current project.
"We're pleased the investment is going towards such a worthy project, to be enjoyed by kids for years to come. It's part of our government's steadfast commitment to helping rural communities across the province."
Mayor Lupton says the support from the community has made this project possible.
"With the financial grant from Ontario Trillium Foundation and the overwhelming support from the Water and Wheels Committee members, and many other financial donors, the Township of Zorra is thrilled to offer recreation facilities that bring families together in community spaces."
The efforts made in Thamesford are to also get the youth involved in the community and to get them out of the house to enjoy the beautiful outdoors.
