A Snowy Start to the Family Day Long Weekend

Environment Canada is predicting another 2 to 4 centimetres of snow tonight. We also have blowing snow in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow.

OXFORD COUNTY - We got quite a bit of snow last night and it looks we have more on the way.

Peter Kimbell, a Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada, says we could see some more snow tonight and tomorrow.

"We do expect more snow on Friday night and Saturday. It won't be comparable in terms of the precipitation amount, but we will get a lot of wind so we'll have a lot of blowing snow Friday night and into Saturday."

Environment Canada is currently predicting 2 to 4 centimetres of snow tonight along with wind gusts at to 70 kilometres per hour. We can expect more blowing snow tomorrow with wind gusts up to 80 kilometres per hour in the forecast.

Kimbell says we should have decent temperatures on Sunday and the Family Day Monday, but another system will pass through the area Monday night into Tuesday.

"At this point it looks like it's going to be warm above zero degrees, so it should be rain but it could be mixed with snow. It could also start as snow and change to freezing rain and then rain. It's to be decided yet, but it will be another messy day on Monday night and into Tuesday."

Kimbell is also predicting colder temperatures for Wednesday and Thursday next week.
