WOODSTOCK - Mothers with a Heart for Ethiopia will be bringing educational and immersive experience to Southside park.
Founder Shelley Green says A Walk in Their Shoes fundraiser will feature stories and pictures of the realities of Ethiopia and how funds raised will be used to bring aid.
"This is our first year to kick off this event. It's going to be a great event, it's going to be fun but its also going to be a meaningful and special event where people can really come out and feel like 'you know what? I can make a difference in this world."
Green says the organization has raised over a million dollars so far and she makes regular trips to Ethiopia to witness the proper use and the impact of the funds.
"To actually get to know the life stories of people that they've shared so generously with me. Private details of their lives that they are not happy about, or not proud of, things that they've gone through, the trauma. It has really equipped me with the information that I need to have to come back and share those stories with people so that they can better understand."
The event will feature much more than the walk. With informational opening and closing ceremonies, Ethiopian coffee, an Ethiopian traditional market, and a contest to win entry for the door prize.
Teams are encouraged to begin fundraising in advance by visiting their website here. The event is on Saturday October 14th starting at 1pm at the Southgate Centre in Woodstock.
