The 22-year-old accused of killing four members of a Muslim family in London took the stand in his own defense yesterday.
WINDSOR - The man on trial for the death of a Muslim family in London took the stand in a Windsor courtroom.
The 22-year-old is accused of deliberately killing four members of the Afzaal family with his truck while they were out for an evening walk in June 2021. He has since pled not guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
While testifying in his own defense yesterday, the man talked about how his mental health started to decline in April 2020, in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. He said he spent an unhealthy amount of time on the internet and he started to display bizarre behaviour. He threw his furniture away, got rid of most of the food in his apartment, and ripped his TV from his wall mount.
The man is expected to take the stand again today.
