The Oxford County Federation of Agriculture will host a provincial candidates debate at the Embro Community Centre this Wednesday night starting at 7:00 p.m.
EMBRO - The provincial election candidates in Oxford County will go toe-to-toe in an agricultural debate at the Embro Community Centre.
The Oxford County Federation of Agriculture will be hosting it this Wednesday night starting at 7:00 p.m. and wrapping up at 9:00 p.m.
President Dirk Boogerd says the debate topics will focus on the agriculture sector.
"The questions will revolve around rural infrastructure investments, loss of land due to development in our province as a whole but also in our county, and regulations and restrictions on different commodities and in different areas of our sector."
Anyone can attend the debate, not just OCFA members. Boogerd says members of the audience will also be able to submit their own questions for the candidates.
"All of the questions from the floor will be in written form, so there will be no verbal questions. Anyone who has a question will be asked to write them down and they will be sorted out, filtered through, and asked by our moderator."
OCFA Director Davine Garner will be the moderator for the evening.
Once the debate wraps up, the OCFA will be serving pie to everyone in attendance. Boogerd says all of the pies will be locally made and they will have several different types available; including apple, strawberry, and rhubarb.
The debate will be live-streamed on the Oxford County Federation of Agriculture Facebook page for those who can't make it to the event.
