A Brantford man who claimed to be the victim of a hate-crime in Downtown Woodstock has been charged. 28-year-old Raymond Parton has been charged with Public Mischief, as Woodstock Police say Parton falsely reported the circumstances surrounding the incident on St. Patrick's Day. Police say they were called that night to a report of a victim who had been assaulted and robbed of his wallet. That victim told the Woodstock Sentinel-Review that he was violently attacked by 4 men, because he is gay. Constable Steve McEwen says police investigated, and have charged the alleged victim. "Criminal Investigations revealed that the circumstances the complainant told police turned out to be false. As a result, he was charged with public mischief." Heart FM contacted Parton, and he declined to comment on the advice of his lawyer.
