The Huron Public Health Unit confirmed 4 more cases of COVID-19 at Cedarcroft today and another resident who tested positive has passed away.
STRATFORD - Another resident at the Cedarcroft Retirement Home who tested positive for COVID-19 has passed away.
Medical Officer of Health for Huron Perth Dr. Miriam Klassen says they were very saddened to learn of the passing of another resident at the home.
“Our hearts are with the person’s family, friends and caregivers during this time.”
The Health Unit also confirmed another four positive cases at the long term care home. The new cases include three residents and another staff member.
As of today's date, the outbreak at Cedarcroft has resulted in 13 confirmed cases, 10 residents and 3 staff members and 2 people have died.
Dr. Klassen say Huron Perth Public Health continues to actively investigate the outbreak, including how well public health measures were followed in the home to limit the spread of the virus.
“We are concerned to see this level of spread in a facility at this point in the pandemic and need to understand why this level of spread has occurred.”
Cedarcroft continues to maintain all outbreak measures to protect their staff and residents, and HPPH continues to support them during this time. According to the Ministry of Health, an outbreak in a retirement home may be declared over when there are no new cases in residents or staff after 14 days.
