The Oxford Attack Under 13 Bantam Boys competitive basketball team finished with a solid 4 and 1 record for a 2nd place silver medal finish out of 12 teams at the Blessed Sacrament OBA tournament in Hamilton. The Attack started the tournament in strong fashion versus the Ancaster Magic #2 with a resounding 75 - 31 victory. All 11 Attack players registered points in their teams highest point total this season. Ethan Roberts played his best game of the year garnering 7 points, 9 assists and 3 steals. Zach Friesen and Adam Bullen each contributed 4 and 5 points, respectively, to go along with multiple rebounds. The Attack continued their strong play shutting down the Orangeville Hawks #2 team 52 ? 11. The Attack team registered 20 assists in total; unselfishly sharing the basketball in a complete team win. Callaghan Bullen notched 12 points with Jacob Clark and Lucas Gagnon contributing excellent team defense and getting on the score sheet with a single basket each. The Attack completed pool play with a thrilling 32 ? 26 victory versus the Burlington Panthers #2 squad. The Panthers played an aggressive 2-3 zone defense which kept scoring to a minimum. The Attack maintained a small lead most of the game and sealed their victory with great defense and timely free throw shooting. Brandon Cowan lead the Attack with 16 points including 3 3-point shots. Callaghan Bullen had 8 points to go along with 8 key rebounds for his team. The Attack moved onto the division semi-finals versus their arch rival Orangeville Hawks #1 team and came out on top of a 48 ? 37 score. Cubby Dempster and Liam Dempsey played relentless defense against the Hawks top guard and repeatedly helped their team break the Hawks full court press. Quinten Quackenbush-Schneider continued his solid tournament play registering 10 points and 6 rebounds. The Attack moved onto the Division finals versus a powerful Kanata Cavaliers squad that possessed a 13 year old 6? 2? tall player. The Cavalier?s unique 1-3-1 trapping zone combined with their tall athletic players rattled the Attack into a 57 ? 25 defeat. Hudson Holman and his fellow interior post players battled admirably against taller opposition throughout the entire game. The silver medal winning ?Oxford Attack players of the 5-game tournament? were the entire Attack team. The Attack players continue to demonstrate improvement in their play and continued support for each other as they progress towards the OBA Provincial championships in two weeks in Kingston. Next up for the Attack is a 2-game exhibition tournament in Hamilton next Sunday.
