The Oxford Attack Under 13 Bantam Girls were competitive in 3 of 4 games at their provincial championships in Windsor over the weekend. The Attack girls were the 7th seed in Division 3 out of 8 and had never played teams of that high of calibre all season long.
The Attack opened the year-end tournament against IEM Newmarket and kept the score close the entire game but could not gain any ground as time expired and the Attack fell 38-29.
The Attack next faced the #18 ranked Ancaster Magic and battled extremely hard using their full court arrow press in the final quarter to close the deficit only to run out of time and come up short in a close 30-26 score.
The Attack girls completed pool play against the Timmins Selects; who were the top team in their pool and the eventual division silver medal winners. The Attack were motivated in this contest and once again found themselves in a close competitive game. The Attack nailed a late, clutch, 3-point shot to go ahead with less than a minute to play and held on for a thrilling 25-23 victory over a solid Division 3 squad.
The Attack U13 girls finished their provincial championships versus Burlington Basketball and played tired and sluggish and struggled to run their offence all game long and fell 21-11.
The Oxford Attack U13 Bantam girls finished their 2nd season in the OBA with a stellar 29-6 record and look forward to next season competing in the higher calibre tournaments.
