Lena Hart is one of the finalists remaining in the Stuck At Prom Scholarship Contest where the winner will receive a $10,000 scholarship for college or university.
AYR - A teenager from Ayr is a finalist in a dress making contest from Duck Brand.
Grade 12 student Lena Hart says she heard about the contest from her teacher and designed her dress for prom.
"I heard it from my Art Teacher at Eastwood, Ms. Ethel, who also lives in Ayr and my friends in art class just absolutely loved it. Once COVID happened and we were all stuck at home, I started making this dress, it was something to put my creativity into at home."
She says that making dresses is a passion of hers and explains how she made this gorgeous prom dress.
"I've been designing dresses ever since I could hold a pencil but this is the first dress I have ever brought to life. I created all of my patterns by myself and it is all my design and I cut out those patterns from the duct tape and I cut out those patterns from the duct tape and I taped them together. The dress is 100% made of duct tape."
Hart is the only Canadian left in the contest and if she wins, she will win a 10,000 scholarship for College or University. She plans to go to the University of British Columbia in the fall of 2021 for music. She currently plays clarinet for the Ayr/Paris Junior band.
