High school students in the TVDSB and LCDSB will be back in the classroom today.
OXFORD COUNTY - Almost all kids in Ontario will be back in class on Monday.
Locally high school students will return to class today in the TVDSB and LDCSB. Medical Officer of Health Dr. Joyce is urging parents and caregivers to keep your kids home and to get tested if they are showing any symptoms.
"I ask that parents and guardians is screened everyday before leaving the house, this will keep COVID out of our classrooms and our classrooms open. Screening is one of the most important things parents can do to ensure the safety of all the children within the school."
Dr. Lock was also asked about the possibility of asymptomatic testing coming to our classrooms.
"There has been word that the Province would like to do some form of testing, maybe rapid testing within school settings as an additional tool to keep our schools safe. There are multiple considerations and challenges with respect to doing that. So at the moment this is a topic of active discussion."
Dr. Lock says they are still talking about how to use the option of additional testing for schools.
"It is a little bit complex of ensuring this is done in a way that actually enhances the safety of our schools but does not in any way interfere with the education and resources we have available to address testing."
