It's going to be a lot easier for Woodstock residents to recycle their old batteries. The city has reached an agreement with Raw Materials Inc., to set up barrels at city facilities where residents can pitch their old dead batteries. City Engineer Harold DeHaan says the program is at no cost to the city, "they will put their containers in certain public buildings, enabling residents to drop off their used household batteries from their remote controls or what have you. They then take those batteries and recycle them and they sell the recycled product". DeHaan says the Community Complex, Library, Engineering Office and Aquatic Centre are a few areas you'll likely see the new barrels by the end of February.
