Environment Canada Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says the summer warmth will return to Oxford County for the Labour Day long weekend.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County residents should be able to enjoy this Labour Day weekend.
Temperatures are looking to be in the high 20s and low 30s for the last long weekend of the summer.
Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada, Geoff Coulson says it will be a great opportunity to get outside.
"We've got a big area of high pressure that is going to remain rock solid south of the lower Great Lakes. That system is steering pretty much all the other storm systems well over Northern Ontario, not really much activity expected in Southern Ontario right through the holiday weekend."
Coulson adds that temperatures could be above seasonal averages for this time of year.
"Ironically, as we get into the month of September, and the kids getting back to school, that seems to be when the real summer warmth is going to start arrive in Southwestern Ontario."
Coulson mentions that it was a colder than normal summer, as in the month of August there were no recorded days of temperatures reaching 30 degrees, and the hottest day this month was August 3rd at 28.
He said there might be some rain that could come into the area Saturday evening, but there is some disagreement in the weather models as to how far the storm system could reach. So as far as Coulson is concerned the Labour Day long weekend should be rain-free for the people of Woodstock and Oxford County.
