The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has confirmed two more cases of H5N1 at farms in Woolwich and Zorra Townships.
On Monday, the CFIA confirmed the highly pathogenic avian influenza subtype H5N1 at a poultry flock in Zorra.
Then the same H5N1 virus was confirmed at a chicken farm in Woolwich on Wednesday.
In both cases the farms have been placed under quarantine. The CFIA is establishing movement control measures and recommending enhanced biosecurity for other farms within both areas.
The bird flu is spreading in wild bird populations across the globe and present a significant national concern as birds migrate back into Canada.
The CFIA continues to remind anyone with poultry or other susceptible birds to practice good biosecurity habits to protect them from infectious animal diseases.
