The townships of Blandford-Blenheim and Wilmot will receive provincial funding to help with the flood recovery efforts from 2018.
BLANDFORD-BLENHEIM - The Township of Blandford Blenheim in Oxford County is eligible for up to $202,000 from the Province of Ontario because of flooding last year.
The announcement was made yesterday in Baden. Wilmot Township is also eligible for up to $214,000 from the province because of last years floods. The money will come from the Municipal Disaster Recovery Assistance program.
Heavy rain and melting snow caused flooding on the Nith and Grand Rivers last year, impacting several roads in both townships.
Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Steve Clark says the townships can apply for the extra funds for operating and capital costs that can be linked to the disaster.
"Natural disasters can cause extensive damage and often lead to unexpected costs for municipalities. The Municipal Disaster Recovery Assistance program is one way that our government helps eligible municipalities when they need it the most."
