A watermain break has forced a boil water advisory in Mount Elgin as the water system is open to potential contamination right now.
Oxford County has issued a Boil Water Advisory for the Mt. Elgin municipal water system in the Township of South-West Oxford.
Residents will be asked to boil their tap water before using it for drinking, cooking, making infant formula, making ice, washing fruits and vegetables, or brushing teeth until further notice.
You will need to bring the water to a rolling boil for one minute and allow it to cool before using it. At that point you can store the water for later use.
This advisory was caused by a watermain break leaving the water supply system open to potential contamination.
You can also expect low water pressure until the issues is resolved.
In consultation with Southwestern Public Health, Oxford County will advise residents when laboratory test results confirm the water is safe.
