Members of the County of Brant will be given a chance to be a firefighter.
BRANT COUNTY - The County of Brant Fire Department are looking for future firefighters.
Whether you want to be more involved or take action in your community, the County of Brant's Fire team is recruiting new firefighters to the force. Doesn't matter if your a farmer, office worker, business owner the department is looking for anyone ready and willing to serve the county. Geoff Hayman, Active Fire Chief explained who their looking for.
"We are looking for people to join our team who have a strong desire to be part of the
community, can meet the physical requirements and are dedicated to their team and the
ongoing training"
A screening process is required because of the nature in this kind of work. This includes a written, physical and mental tests, interviews and reference checks. If the recruit is accepted in the program, the Probationary Firefighter will service for 1 year. After a year the firefighter will be accepted as a full member.
Anthony Turkowiak is a former recruit that finished his training in 2018 and is now a full firefighter.
"I wanted to become a Firefighter with the County of Brant to help my community. The Fire Department responded quickly when my family had a barn fire. They not only saved a lot of our equipment, but they really helped my family through a difficult time."
The department will be holding information nights on January the 15th and 23rd at 7:30 p.m. The sessions will be held at the Fire Administration Building in Paris.
