Bridges At Tillsonburg is still booking tee times despite additional fines to the course and 19 golfers over the weekend.
TILLSONBURG - The Bridges At Tillsonburg is still booking tee times despite additional fines over the weekend.
The OPP presented the course with two more fines over the weekend under the Reopening Act. They have now been given a total of three fines from the OPP. The maximum amount under the Act is $10 million, however the fine amounts will be determined by courts and it is unlikely they will get the $10 million maximum. The Bridges has a court date set for June 3rd.
Bridges has turned off online booking and are directing golfers to call the pro shop.
OPP fined 5 golfers on Saturday, who were presented with a ticket for $750 and with the victim surcharge it would total $880. Police were stopping golfers on Sunday as well. They were taking photos of the players at the 9th and 17th hole and the stopping vehicles as they left the course. They would match the photo's with people on the course and then handing out the ticket. A total of 19 golfers were fined on Saturday and Sunday under the Reopening Act on Saturday and Sunday. The OPP will be putting out another release today and we will update this page when that information becomes available.
The Bridges has a sign posted inside the clubhouse telling golfers to not pay the fines and to fight them in court. In an email to Heart FM, OPP Media Relations Coordinator Derek Rodgers says they will not comment on active investigations.
"The OPP is asking that businesses and members of the public voluntarily comply with the government-mandated shutdown and the Stay-At-Home Order."
