Buckle Up this Easter Long Weekend

The OPP will be on the lookout for the Big Four this long weekend; distracted driving, impaired driving, aggressive driving and proper seatbelt use.

ONTARIO - The OPP will be doing a province wide seat belt campaign this long weekend.

Officers will be out in full force keeping a close eye on the roads. This long weekend they are focusing on the Big Four, which is distracted driving, impaired driving, aggressive driving and they will keep an extra keen eye on those not wearing a seat belt.

The traffic blitz starts on Friday and will run through the end of the day Monday.

Air bags do not take the place of a seatbelt. They won't prevent you or your passengers from being thrown out of your car, and they can also injure children. Police say that a properly worn seat belt greatly increases your chances of surviving a motor vehicle collision.

The fine for not wearing a seat belt is $240 and it includes 2 demerit points.
