An information night will be taking place on April 3rd for those who are interested in applying.
BLANDFORD-BLENHEIM - Teenage boys will have the chance to find out what it's like to be a firefighter in Blandford-Blenheim.
Camp 85 will be taking place from Tuesday July 8th to Saturday July 12 this year and the program is going to be for boys between the ages of 14 and 18 this time around.
Fire Chief Drew Davidson says they will get hands on experience.
"We have four full days and since we have four stations in our Township, they attend a different station each day. They do anything from search and rescue to automotive extrication using the jaws of life."
They will also see presentations from Oxford County EMS and the Oxford OPP.
This is the third year of Camp 85 in Blandford-Blenheim Township. The program was geared towards girls for its first two years, but the Township decided to give boys the opportunity to participate this year.
Chief Davidson says a information night will be taking place on Thursday April 3rd and attendance is mandatory.
"They will listen to about a 15 minute talk about what's expected, what they need to bring and everything like that. After that they get the application that evening."
Those who attend will also be able to try on the fire gear, see the jaws of life, and talk to some of the girls who have gone through the Camp 85 program before.
If you have any questions about Camp 85 or the information night coming up on April 3rd you can call 519-463-5347 with extension 7432. You can also send an e-mail to Michelle Van Wyk mvanwyk@blandfordblenheim.ca.
