Caressant Care is celebrating the second consecutive time they have received CARF accredidation
For the second consecutive time, Caressant Care has been given a three year accreditation by CARF International.
This certification is the highest honour an organization can receive from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities - an independent organization that gives certification to signal a service provider's commitment to improving services and serving the community.
Manager of Corporate Communications for Caressant Care, Lee Griffi, breaks down what the award means to the long term care and nursing home: "It says that we are doing a good job doing the things we are supposed to do - which is take care of our residents, abide by our own policies and procedures, and continue quality improvement as well. For us it comes down to taking care of our residents, being good community members, and that's a good thing for us."
Griffi says the employees always strive to achieve a high level of satisfaction among residents."There is such an emphasis on quality improvement in long term care as it is, that's what the Ministry wants to see. It is the culture now, it's just the way we do things. We can't help but continuously try to do better for our residents and that is what it comes down to; I think we can always do that much better and that is what we strive to do."
In order for the nursing and retirement facility to be chosen they needed to meet the requirements of quality, value, and optimal outcomes from CARF International. Griffi, knows this honour is a great way to say thank you to the staff who got the organization to this point. "I think it gives us a chance to say well done to ourselves, something that we don't get a lot of credit for. Long term care is often not portrayed in a positive light in the media, and this is something we can get out and say, 'hey we do a lot of good things.' And it shows that we are working hard to make the lives better for our residents."
There are 15 Caressant Care locations across the province, one of the biggest is in Woodstock.
