CBD Products Popping Up in Local Convenience Stores

Illegal CBD products are being sold at local Convenience Stores in Woodstock and Oxford County.

WOODSTOCK - Southwestern Public Health and Police are reminding residents that it is still illegal to purchase CBD products from retail stores.

The Cannabidiol oil or CBD products have started to pop up at convenience stores in Oxford County, Elgin County, and the City of St. Thomas. CBD products and products containing THC at these stores are illegal and should not be for sale.

Currently, the only way to legally purchase these products for non-medical use in Ontario is through the online Ontario Cannabis Store. Retailers should know that selling these products is illegal and customers should know that purchasing these products from these retailers is also illegal.

CBD oil and other cannabis products will be available at select retail stores in April 1st.

Woodstock Chief of Police Bill Renton is asking anyone who notices CBD products on store shelves in Woodstock to contact police.

“Woodstock Police Service supports the new laws regarding the sales of CBD products. Community safety is our main priority and we will work with our community partners in ensuring the legislation is enforced accordingly. We encourage all community members to educate themselves on the new laws and work together for a healthy and safe community. Woodstock Police Service requests that everyone participates in our mission to keep our community safe by reporting the illegal sales of CBD products.”
