The Oxford County Animal Rescue's Online Christmas Auction will close at 4:00 p.m. this Saturday and they have 91 items up for grabs.
OXFORD COUNTY - The holidays are fast approaching, so lots of people are scrambling to find the perfect gifts for their loved ones.
Anna Holmes, the Rescue Director and Foster Coordinator for the Oxford County Animal Rescue, would like to remind everyone that pets are not Christmas presents.
"These guys are forever commitments. These are heartbeats that will live on for many years and they are not gifts. I have had a few people in the last week or so asking if they can adopt on Christmas Eve so they can surprise a loved one and I have told them no. Pets are long-term commitments."
The Animal Rescue is currently hosting its Online Christmas Auction, which is the largest virtual fundraiser for the local charity. They have 91 items up for grabs including pet treats, kids toys, wine packages, and more. The auction launched on November 19th and it will close on Saturday December 10th at 4:00 p.m. You can view the items and submit your bids online here.
The Oxford County Animal Rescue relies on donations from the public in order to operate. You can find more information and donate to the rescue online here.
Holmes also has a holiday reminder for all of the pet owners out there.
"There are some things that are a little bit toxic to our cats and dogs that you might find under the Christmas tree or on the table. Poinsettias are not great, watch out for mistletoe, and if you wrap a box of chocolates and put it under your tree your dog will find them."
Anna Holmes called the Heart FM Studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Wednesday December 7th. You can listen to the full interview below.
