A sizable grant has been awarded to the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority. The funding will help the conservation with their Clean Water Program which includes planting over 40,000 trees and shrubs. Their General Manager Ian Wilcox is overwhelmed with the amount they received. "All of our work through the last 65 years requires cooperation from land owners, but financial contributions too from different agencies and levels of government. I have to say this donation from RBC of $120,000 is one of the largest we've received for doing work on private land and naturalizing water quality." Vice President for Commercial and Agricultural Banking for Huron, Perth, and Oxford County Greg Belanger was happy to be at the Innerkip Wellhead. "Every year we give out grants to conservation authorities that we think are doing beneficial work throughout our country. Today we fortunate enough to come the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority and deliver a sizable cheque." Students from the Innerkip Public School were also at the celebration of the funding. They helped plant wildlife to enhance the biodiversity in the Innerkip Wellhead area. Student Abby Marie explains how she thinks the area will look in a few years. "It'll be really pretty because of all the different types of flowers. We'll look back at what we did and be proud of ourselves and happy that we got the chance to do this." The RBC Blue Water Leadership Project has committed $50 million in charitable grants to protect watersheds and ensure clean drinking water all over Canada.
