BRANTFORD - The CEO of St. Joseph's Health System has apologized for taking a Caribbean vacation of the holidays.
Dr. Tom Stewart was the head of the healthcare system that runs several hospitals in Ontario, including ones in Kitchener, Guelph and Brantford. He has since resigned from his provincial positions after word got out he went to the Caribbean from December 18 to January 5th.
Stewart was responsible for the St. Mary's Hospital in Kitchener and St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre in Brantford. In a written statement he has since apologized for his actions.
"I regret this non-essential travel and I'm sorry. I recognized everyone should be avoiding non-essential travel now, including me. As a health system leader, my actions in no way reflect the tireless dedication and commitment of staff at St. Joseph's Health System."
