The Thamesford Tim Hortons finished first in their district in percentage of SMILE cookie sales. Today they presented Andrew's Legacy with a cheque for $13,576.

THAMESFORD - The Tim Horton's location in Thamesford was able to present Andrew's Legacy with a cheque for $13,576.

The money was raised during the Smile Cookie campaign and the small store in Thamesford actually came in first for SMILE cookie sales in their district as well as first in percentage of smile cookies to sales.

Co-owner Shawn Forgues says the volunteers from Andrew's Legacy and the staff in Thamesford worked really hard to make all those cookies.

"We had volunteers in here from Andrews Legacy helping out, they arranged for volunteers to come in here to push this along. So we were in here, early mornings, late evenings, every single day, baking them fresh, we didn't want anyone getting day old cookies. We worked really hard to pull it off, our team really came together, a lot of our staff came in for extra shifts to make it happen, it was a lot of teamwork, a lot of teamwork to pull it off."

Forgues says they were making cookies late into the evening of the last day to meet the demand. Forgues says for them to reach the top spot in their district was amazing.

"We are pretty small community, so to be one of the top performing stores, was really an honour for us. We didn't knock it out of the park compared to some of the other stores but we definitely did our part for our region. We finished first in some categories and some other local stores nearby did really well too, like the Woodstock store was really impressive. Every one of the stores really contributed, right across the chain."

Andrew's Legacy started after the tragic passing of Andrew Stoddart in Kintore. He was playing soccer and it's believed an AED could have saved his life that day. Since then his mom Cara Schmidt and his aunt Krista Granger have made it their mission to equip as many sports fields, schools, arenas and other public areas with the life saving devices as possible. Cara Schmidt says they have collaborated with several community organizations including EMS, Fire, Kiwanis Club, Lions Club to donate 55 AED's to various public places in Oxford, Perth, Middlesex and London.

Today they were able to donate a brand new life saving AED to the Tim's location in Thamesford.
