There are numerous reports suggesting Dr. Kieran Moore will encourage Ontarians to mask up in public places, but will not issue a mask mandate.

ONTARIO - Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health is set to hold a press conference today, in order to urge the public to mask up.

Dr. Kieran Moore will provide a health update at 9:00 a.m. today. He will be joined by Dr. Chris Simpson, Executive Vice-President (Medical) at Ontario Health.

There are numerous reports that Dr. Moore will encourage Ontarians to wear masks out in public, but will not issue a mask mandate.

Children's hospitals across the province have been experiencing an influx of respiratory illnesses. Some hospitals have had to cancel surgeries because their intensive care units are operating over capacity.

Premier Doug Ford also encouraged the public to mask up yesterday, but he dodged questions about reintroducing the mask mandate.
