WOODSTOCK - The community Christmas Carol concert tradition in Woodstock will carry on this year with a virtual format.
Normally the concert would draw in hundreds of people every year. It typically alternates locations between the Church of Epiphany and Knox Presbyterian every year for the past 52 years.
Knox Lay Worship Leader Anne Miller says they had to find a creative way to keep the tradition going.
"The churches that are participating are sending us video and that is going to be edited all together into a single event, a single concert, that will be uploaded, thanks to First Baptist Church onto their YouTube channel."
Miller adds they will be collecting donations for Operation Sharing's Christmas Place.
"We do the concert, not only to sing together and celebrate our faith but it is also a fundraiser for Operation Sharing, and this specifically it is for the Christmas Place."
It is hoped donations for the Christmas Place come in before the concert. Donations can be sent to Operation Sharing for that program online at www.operationsharing.ca/donate or by mail at P.O. Box 20081, Woodstock, Ontario, N4S 8X8.
The event has been in the works since mid-October. To access the concert, go to fbcwoodstock.ca and there will be a button at the top of the home page to link to their YouTube page and the event.
