Police say neighbours and local citizens helped them track down two men who are accused of stealing an ATV and several other items.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Oxford OPP are crediting some alert citizens in helping them arrest two men accused of stealing an ATV.
Police were called on Monday evening after people spotted an abandoned side by side ATV on the 11th line in Zorra Township. The citizens called their neighbours and tracked down the footprints of two men. The men were caught a short distance away and arrested by police.
The ATV is worth an estimated $12,000 and had been reported stolen from the 23rd line in Zorra Township on Saturday.
A large pipe wrench and a battery charger were also recovered at the scene, which had been reported stolen from two separate break, enter and thefts from properties in Zorra Townships within the last month.
28 year old Christopher Metcalfe of Ingersoll and 21 year old Mitchell Daniel of Woodstock were arrested and are facing several theft related charges.
OPP would like to commend the quick thinking actions of the citizens, a great example of the community and police working together to keep our communities safe.
