The bylaw doesn't mean you can't play road hockey or basketball on your street, but it does mean you have to move the nets when you're done.
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock has put out a Friendly reminded about the Public Nuisance Bylaw.
The bylaw prohibits playing and game or sport on a road that obstructs traffic. This doesn't mean you cannot play basketball or road hockey on a street. It does mean, that you need to move the nets when a car needs to pass. You also need to remove the nets when you are done playing.
There is a time honoured tradition in Canada of yelling "CAR" when playing road hockey in the streets to keep traffic moving.
Even if you don't have much traffic on your street, you still need to move the nets to allow large vehicles like garbage trucks to do their job.
