City Says No

If the City of Woodstock has their say, a proposed 147 lot subdivision in East Zorra Tavistock will not be happening.

The City of Woodstock is not about to change their stance on cross boarder services.

That was the strong message sent by councillors when it came to a draft plan of 147 lot residential subdivision in East Zorra Tavistock.

The application, while not in Woodstock is located on the north side of County Road 17 and asks for City services like sewer and water, something Council strongly opposes.

City Engineer Harold de Haan says there's a few major philosophical issues with the applicant's proposal.

"The official plan for the County designates growth areas. Every municipality has it's growth area. Up against City of Woodstock boundaries is not it. Also, the official plan says specifically that services are not to cross municipal boundaries to service developments in other municipalities."

While the application was not made to the City of Woodstock, de Haan says staff in East Zorra Tavistock circulated it to the City for comment because it was a contentious issue.
