Coldest Night of the Year Fundraiser in Woodstock Has Raised Over $50,000

The Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser for Woodstock started with a goal of raising $20,000 for Operation Sharing's the Inn. They have already more than doubled that total.

WOODSTOCK - The first annual Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser in Woodstock is happening next Saturday and already it's a huge success.

Organizer Scott McKague started out with a goal of raising $20,000. He says they event has already more than doubled that total.

"We obviously would have been totally satisfied with $20,000 but then we set a new goal of $30,000 and then we surpassed that so we set another goal of $50,000 and we are just a hair shy of that today and I am sure we surpass that in the last week to go here for the event."

Teams will walk the streets next Saturday February 20th for the event. Because of the pandemic they will have to do the walk in their groups, so we won't have that image of hundreds of people walking together for the cause.

McKague says he just overwhelmed by the support form the community.

"As the event director, I am just over the moon about it, Operation Sharing who fund the Inn of Oxford and the folks at the Inn of Oxford are obviously just estactic as well."

A total of 38 teams and 184 participants have signed up thus far and you can still sign up a team today and you can still donate all next week and beyond online here

They will also be handed out the Coldest Night of the Year Toques and other swag next week at the Inn.

All of the money raised will go to Operation Sharing and the Inn, Oxford County's only homeless shelter.
