Coldest Night of the Year has reached 63% of the $200,000 goal.
WOODSTOCK - The Coldest Night of the Year fundraising goal is still a while away for organizers.
Donations have been coming in since early December, and they have reached 63% of the $200,000 goal they're looking to raise for Operation Sharing this year.
Last year, the Woodstock event raised $211,000.
CNOY is a fundraising and awareness initiative run each year. Tens of thousands of Canadians step outside the warmth and comfort of home to shine a light on homelessness in their communities. CNOY has raised over $56,000,000 in 166 communities across Canada since it began in 2011.
Event Organizer Scott McKague says Woodstock surpassed expectations across the CNOY communities.
"Thanks doesn't seem to cut it. In this event, nationally, there's a lot of groups that participate obviously and Woodstock is almost a folk legend right now, and that's not a joke. Everyone knows who we are and we're making huge differences."
Woodstock came in fourth nationwide for donation amounts, competing against cities who have been taking part in this event for longer and have much larger populations.
The walk will take place on Saturday, February 25th, and it will start at 5:00 p.m. All of the proceeds raised locally will be going to Operation Sharing.
